a European talent hub strengthening the skills of entrepreneurial founders and leaders
Discover the new European Campus Hainburg in Austria, a joint site of the European University Alliances E³UDRES² and EULiST.
The future European Campus Hainburg (ECH) is being developed by USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, in collaboration with TU Wien - Technical University Wien, under a strategic decision by the Province of Lower Austria as part of its Higher Education Strategy 2030+.
The Campus is designed to become a joint site of two European University Alliances: E³UDRES² and EULiST. Located in Hainburg, close to the historic Roman city of Carnuntum, a gateway connecting different parts of Europe since ancient times, the European Campus Hainburg is also envisioned as a cross-border hub for connecting higher education, research and innovation in the heart of Europe.
The European Campus Hainburg (ECH) will be a home to approximately 500 students including PhD candidates, and about 60 members of academic and administrative staff. New study programmes in AI and data sciences as well as in the field of social innovations are being planned at the bachelor level, to be complemented by focused master programmes and a PhD School. For the first time in Austria, the campus will bring together a University of Applied Sciences and a Technical University on a shared site, creating unique opportunities for interdisciplinary study paths, research collaboration and career development.
The Government of Lower Austria approved the project of the ECH in December 2025 and will come into operation in 2028 (Selected academic activities will start earlier at the Campus St. Pölten, before being transferred to Hainburg).
The European Campus Hainburg (ECH) (for green tech and smart innovation) is a center of knowledge for sustainable and healthy environments developed in academic collaboration between the USTP and the Technical University Wien (TUW) as a joint site of the European Universities E³UDRES² and EULiST.
Hainburg is located in Lower Austria, on the river Danube, between Vienna and Bratislava, and in proximity of Vienna International Airport and the International Airport of Bratislava.
It is at the centre of a growing part of Lower Austria in the Austria-Slovakia cross-border area, also very close to the Czech Republic and Hungary. This unique geographic position makes Hainburg an ideal location for a European campus fostering cross-border collaboration and innovation.
You may become part of developing the ECH vision. Calls for research groups leaders and study programme development leads are currently being planned to be opened in April 2026.
