Regional identity often begins on our plates. Food is more than nourishment, it tells stories of migration, tradition, innovation, and community. In Fulda, located in the heart of Germany, culinary culture is deeply rooted in regional ingredients and traditional recipes, yet constantly evolving through intercultural exchange.
How can we use food to connect communities, preserve regional identity, and foster sustainable practices? What role can local cuisine play in shaping a European identity that respects regional diversity? Participants at the Fulda hub will explore how culinary innovation, digital technologies, and sustainable food systems can strengthen community bonds and spark dialogue around identity. Its time to cook up new ideas for connecting regions - one bite at a time.

Hackathon Timeline & structure
Participants will arrive at their local hub on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, where the Hackathon officially starts in the afternoon. After a good night's sleep in a hotel near the event location (02. - 03.12.2025), the intensive 24-hour problem-solving sprint begins in the morning. The event officially ends after the presentation of the winners in the afternoon on 4 December 2025.
⚠️ Important: There will NOT be a second hotel night, as the second night (03. - 04.12.2025) will be spent entirely at the event location. Teams will work throughout the night, collaborating, prototyping, and refining their ideas, culminating in the final pitches and presentations on 4 December 2025.
The Hackathon is intensive and there is no specific time set aside for sleep - it's a time for passion, creativity, and teamwork. The goal: presenting a concrete solution that contributes to “Connecting Europe by Shaping Regional Identities."
Mandatory Preparation Sessions
