On 13 May 2025, UCLL University of Applied Sciences hosted the launch of the “Close to My Bed” show, a new initiative supported by the Flemish government to highlight the tangible impact of the European Union in students’ everyday environments. The interactive event took place at UCLL’s Hasselt campus and will continue its tour across universities in Flanders in the coming weeks.
The initiative combines engagement and education, inviting students to explore the role of the EU through a variety of hands-on activities — from a VR experience showcasing EU-funded projects to a Europe-themed quiz. The goal is to raise awareness among young people about how the European Union influences their education, career opportunities, and regional development.
Spotlight on E³UDRES² Alumni
As part of the programme, E³UDRES² alumnus Nasim Chahbi shared his personal European journey during a live interview with Belgian host Jonathan Medart. Nasim participated in the E³UDRES² Bootcamp in July 2024 and reflected on the value of international exchange and collaboration. “I had the chance to meet students from across Europe and engage in meaningful teamwork. The experience of shadowing a CEO was especially inspiring,” Nasim shared. “At first, I was unsure of what to expect, but in the end, it became the most memorable part of my studies - one I will always carry with me. I made lasting friendships and built connections throughout Europe.”
Nasim’s story exemplifies the core values of E³UDRES²: intercultural collaboration, challenge-based learning, and fostering a spirit of innovation. His participation has made him an engaged ambassador of the alliance, demonstrating the positive impact such experiences can have on students’ academic and personal growth.
