The 2025 annual conference of EURASHE took place on May 14–15 in the Portuguese city of Portalegre, drawing together higher education leaders, policymakers, and regional stakeholders from across Europe. Through various contributions, E³UDRES² had a strong presence throughout the two-day event. A key highlight for the alliance was the re-election of E³UDRES² president Hannes Raffaseder as president of EURASHE, as well as the re-election of Claudia Kreipl from Fulda University of Applied Sciences as a member of the EURASHE Board.
Various contributions from the alliance
The varied conference programme included multiple contributions of E³UDRES² members coming from different institutions. Among them was a plenary session titled "Harnessing Talent in Regions", where Vesa Saarikoski from JAMK University of Applied Sciences joined an expert panel to discuss strategies for attracting and nurturing talent in regional settings. The session was moderated by Agnese Davidsone of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences , and drew attention for its practical insights into connecting education with regional needs. In another notable contribution, a breakout session entitled "Regional Engagement Assessment: A Pilot Study to Measure the Impact of E³UDRES² on Regional Ecosystems" delved into early findings on how the alliance is affecting its partner regions. The session was led by Alexandra Tulla, Leopold Kögler-Vencour, and Michal Karpísek from St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, and attracted interest from institutions seeking to enhance their own regional engagement strategies. Later at the event, Tulla, Kögler-Vencour and Karpisek were honored with the "EURASHE Star Award" for their breakout session.
The 2025 EURASHE conference reaffirmed the growing influence of alliances like E³UDRES² in driving innovation, talent development, and regional resilience across Europe. The engagement of E³UDRES² members showcased not only the alliance’s impact on academic discourse but also its strategic role in shaping the future of higher education in applied sciences.
