The Polytechnic University of Setúbal (IPS) is shaping the future in Sines – a Portuguese coastal city and a major strategic asset for the country – with plans for a new campus designed as a hub for regional development and global collaboration.
On 25–26 September 2025, IPS hosted the Sines Leadership Hackathon, bringing together leaders from E³UDRES² partners, members of the alliance’s Advisory Board, and regional stakeholders to co-create the vision for the future campus. More than 30 participants explored its potential impact on the region by 2035, opportunities for international and local cooperation, and models for integrated governance. The programme also included a guided visit to the industrial zone and a cultural tour, offering participants a first-hand experience of the region.
The Sines Campus is an ambitious project that reflects IPS’s commitment to regional growth and international excellence. The Leadership Hackathon was co-organised with Sines Tecnopolo and the Municipality of Sines, two key regional partners.
The initiative showcased the valuable contribution of E³UDRES² partners in shaping the mission, partnerships, and governance of the future campus. Several insights from the hackathon have already been integrated into the proposal IPS will soon submit to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
The Sines Leadership Hackathon was part of the E³UDRES² Autumn Summit (22–26 September), a week-long event that brought together alliance leaders, students, researchers, and partners for exchange, co-creation, and celebration of the alliance’s fifth anniversary.
