A key focus of the visit was the role of the E³UDRES² alliance in shaping a modern, internationally connected study experience. Students shared insights into how the E³UDRES² network, bringing together higher education institutions, regions, and industry partners across Europe, has expanded their academic and professional horizons. They emphasized the value of participating in international projects, mobility programmes, joint learning activities, and gaining hands-on experience beyond Latvia.
E³UDRES² as a Driver of Student Empowerment
Through E³UDRES², students are encouraged to develop entrepreneurial mindsets, collaborate across borders, and contribute to the sustainable development of smart regions. The alliance creates opportunities not only for academic growth but also for real-world impact, enabling students to work on practical challenges in interdisciplinary and international teams.
In addition to international exposure, students highlighted the supportive environment offered by the Valmiera region for personal and professional development. Many pointed out that the combination of high-quality education, international opportunities, and a dynamic regional ecosystem makes Valmiera an attractive place to build their future.
Notably, the majority of students expressed clear future ambitions, with many planning to continue living and working in Valmiera or the wider Vidzeme region, demonstrating the strong connection between the university, the region, and its emerging talent.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of Valmiera, Jānis Baiks, ViA Rector Agnese Dāvidsone, Vice-Rector for Development Iveta Putniņa, Head of VAIC Santa Vītola, lecturer Ilze Grīnfelde, international studies specialist Natālija Andersone, and students of ViA.
This visit underlined the importance of strong collaboration between universities, regions, and European alliances like E³UDRES² in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
